The Betty Crocker Cookbook

We were having Pizza with our friends at their house tonight so Kathy wanted to bring a blueberry pie for dessert.  She got out her absolute best reference cookbook to find the recipe she needed.  This old standby, the Betty Crocker Cookbook!  She has had it forever, I think it was a shower gift before we were married.  I glanced at the book on the kitchen shelf and realized I had never seen it closely!  Look at how you can see how much use this book has had since it was new back in the 1960's!

And this is the cover, showing its use as well.  The covers have come undone and are now held in place by some bright yellow tape. This cookbook is a treasure, because it has been used so much, an because it has been in our house since before we bought it in 1970. This cookbook is a wonderful record showing how much it has been used in our life.

I love all the stains on the book, years of memories and baking and using the reliable Betty Crocker for the recipes. I like how the photo relates to so many of us and tells a story of a piece of our lives! This photo also made me curious and so I looked up the history of Betty Crocker. It is an interesting story of an American icon. Trace

Love seeing the stains on a well used book from a fabulous cook, who makes wonderful blueberry pies. It reminds me of Mom's recipe cards. I have a Better Homes Cookbook from the early 1970's. I will have to check out Betty Crocker as Trace did :-)

I have a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook - red and white checkered - from 1972. It was given to me at my bridal shower. It is also worn but still in pretty good shape. I will have to look up information about Betty Crocker, also. I would love to see Kathy’s recipe for blueberry pie because hers is so delicious!!
