It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

From Out of the Past
In my 40 years at Newsday, and on Long Island, I had never been to Dowling College in Oakdale. One of its campuses is located at the former W. K. Vanderbilt estate "Idle Hour," which was built in 1901. What a sight to see! It was raining today, and that always enriches the saturation of the colors. This is a view of the courtyard, and it felt really good to see that it has been kept in such wonderful condition.
