It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

The White Oak
After I drove into Genesee valley Park the other day and parked the car, this gorgeous white oak is the first thing I saw, and I was immediately drawn to it. This is the first view of the tree, and my first composition. After taking this photo, I took a wider shot of the whole tree, and looked at it from other directions, just to see, but this is THE photo, it seems to me. I shot it in color, but think it is a stronger image in black and white.
Thanks for the picture. Unfortunately, this great tree split last night. It was rotten in the trunk...Thanks for capturing it's beckoning embrace. We rode past it today - it was so sad. A student was sitting in its broken shade... and we all grieved for it. I used your photo on my facebook page with full credits. Hope that's okay.
