It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

Herm & Mary Jane's Porch
I stopped by to visit Herm and Mary Jane while in Rochester. I met Herm the year I graduated from college, in my first job at the Newspaper. I met Mary Jane a couple of years later. So I have known them most of my life it seems. Mary Jane and Herm write and illustrate books together, and are very creative, and have wonderful taste. I think it shows in their porch, which Herm built and the flowers. It was wonderful to see them.
This photograph of your friends porch looks like an illustration that might have come from a book of fairy tales. The colors and interesting architectural details are wonderful! Yesterday, in 95+ degree weather, I decided to paint the rails and balusters on our back porch. My small paint job was rather tedious in the heat. I am very thankful my porch doesn't have have all that gingerbread detail to deal with as well. I lost a few pounds sweating in my bucket of paint but the porch railing looks much better now with a fresh coat of white paint!
ReplyDeleteI'll be all set with a cold glass of lemonade and a good book to relax on this delightful porch...bsk
