It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

My Dilemma
We took an hour long ride around the lower part of Manhattan yesterday, and then out to the Statue of Liberty. I haven't been anywhere near the statue in years. I had a 300mm lens with me, so did both full length pictures, and a closeup of just her head. My dilemma is trying to figure out which shot is my favorite. I think the head is more dramatic, but the full length image is more subtle, but much more beautiful. I also love the clouds in the background of the full length shot. She really is a stunning beautiful sculpture. Please click on each one to see it in a larger size, and then let me know which image is your favorite.
I gotta go with the more dramatic close up! While the clouds may offer some background interest, I prefer seeing all the details of Miss Liberty's face and this shot is much more unique!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you weren't in Vegas???
ReplyDeleteBunny: This is the thing they missed when choosing the photo for the stamp - all the black material on top of the copper, on the real statue. I photographed the statue right after they removed the scaffolding, from a helicopter at dawn, and I was in shock when I saw how black much of the surface of the statue was! You can see that in both of these photographs, if you know to look for it.
