It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

Parking at the Beach
Another late day walk. I saw this car parked at the beach, with its lights on. It was the lighting from the headlights that got my attention. So I used a telephoto lens to move in close. I just liked the feeling of the blue of dusk, the lights on the fence, and the streetlight. Seeing the car parked at the beach reminded me that as a kid, people talked about teenagers parking at Gulf Beach in Milford. They said they were watching the "submarine races." Cute.
Thanks for the memories! There was also a fleet of submarines stationed in Manhasshet Bay back in the late '50's and 60's and they would typically be out on maneuvers right in front of the Town Dock in Port Washington. There were also some great viewing areas at some secluded private beaches in Sands Point.
ReplyDeleteWell, it is not a surprise, because the waters off Milford, CT, are Long Island Sound, and clearly sometimes the submarines went west down the sound, and came into Manhasset Bay! :-)
