This is our new pastor, Father Tony. We finally got to attend a Mass that he was celebrating, and he is such an enthusiastic speaker and his homily was beautifully crafted. He has wanted to come to St. Brigids for years, he said - this is his dream assignment. It is always difficult to lose a pastor who we have come to love, but it is so nice to have the prospect of someone really special to lead us in the times ahead.
So this is a first...
I have decided to post another version of the same shot, not cropped as tightly, and with the crucifix lightened. See which one you like best! I am thinking that this version IS better. I shouldn't do my blog posts so late at night! :-)
Sorry. For me, this picture is badly cropped. Would have liked Jesus' head to be in the picture, even if the pastor wasn't centered. Not a criticism of your ability to take photographs. I enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. Shooting this was a nightmare! I was using my Sony point-and-shoot and it refused to focus on the pastor. Probably because I had heads on either side of the image. So I took about ten frames, and only one or two were sharp. When I included Jesus' head in the frame, I also had to include the head of the man on the left, wearing glasses, and that became really distracting. That's what I get for not bringing a REAL camera with me. Thanks again for your comments.
ReplyDeleteDespite the two big heads in the frame, I like the second photo much better. The crucifix is treated respectfully and it's beautiful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the B shot -- less cropped -- is better. I like how he's framed on the three sides, by the shoulder, the hair and the crucifix, which puts him in great context. And happy you like the new pastor! -Amy
