Night Walk

Lately I have been going for my walks to the power plant at dusk, well after sunset.  Today it was really dark with overcast clouds and drizzle as well.  What's really interesting is how different the familiar landscapes seem in this light.  Fortunately, I am using my Canon 6D with high ISO sensitivity, so I can easily shoot in the really low light. I found all kinds of wonderful things today, but I am showing you this one because this is probably the best photograph about the weather, which has been snotty all day with light snow, then ice pellets, then freezing rain.  I am not looking forward to cleaning the driveway tomorrow morning.  It is solid ice.

  2. Ken-
Sounds like the miserable Winter weather I remember from the Midwest. I won't tell you about the 83F record we set in Tucson yesterday... Wouldn't want to depress you! -Dean

  3. Thank you both for the comments! 83 in Tucson? In December? The snow would melt really fast if we had an 83 degree day here today...

  4. Oh, one other observation... The small image displayed on the blog is the way I intended it to be - fairly dark, for the mood. I am bummed that if you click on it to see it larger, it brightens up by at least one whole stop of exposure! What's with that?

  5. It might be like Youtube - if you post an astronomical time-lapse, say, a night scene, they say it needs work and will ask permission to lighten it. At least they ask... But the thumbnail choices they pick for you are brightened w/nothing you can do about it. Perhaps Blogger thought it needed brightening. I've seen one or two incidents on our blog, but not many. Perhaps a "new" feature... -Dean
