It's been three weeks since my last post showing the demolition work on the power plant. Now there are almost no bricks on the outside of the building at all. Much of the structural steel that holds up the building is still there, but he steel piping within the building is gone, and little by little, they are removing sections of flooring. The building is getting thinner and thinner from the side which we can't see from here.
It looks as if the whole building will collapse inward! bsk
ReplyDeleteAmazing how long and slow a process it has been to dismantle the power plant. Guess this is the eco-friendly way of doing it as opposed to using TNT.
ReplyDeleteI spoke to two workers a month or so ago, and because just across the street and up on the hill from the plant, it is all residential neighborhoods. The closest homes are only perhaps 300 yards away. So they were prohibited from using explosives, and they have to make as little dust and noise as possible. The workers said that this process was REALLY expensive, compared to imploding the plant.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, thanks for the explanation. Hollywood actually pays for some of these implosions to use them in movies.
