There isn't another city like New York City. I am reminded of that every time I arrive home by commercial airline. It is more obvious when flying into LaGuardia airport, because some of the approaches to LaGuardia, like this one, involve flying from south to north just east of Manhattan. I am on the right hand side of the airplane and I got to see Brooklyn spread out before me. It is a stunning sight, and never fails to astound me, as many times as I have seen it. If you are curious, the bright spot in the upper right if the photo is John F. Kennedy Airport.
Not to be a stickler for detail (OK I will) but since your view is from the right of the plane it is traveling from the right to the left side of your image. The large road in the middle that you are crossing appears to be Queens Boulevard (aka the Boulevard of Death) and the water in the upper left are the ponds south of Flushing Meadows Park. All of that is in Queens, so therefore you, the plane and your entire composition were in Queens. Just Saying.
ReplyDeleteWhether it is Brooklyn or Queens, it is a stunning sight. Love all of the lights at night.

Dude! You are the Man! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where I was, and was not able to identify the ponds in Flushing Meadows Park! You have nailed it. Thanks. Clearly I should turn in my pilot's license, for not knowing where I was! :-) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have to turn in your pilot's license - you weren't flying the plane! Love all the colorful lights. This photo is so much fun to look at!! bsk
