When April Fool's Day rolls around each year, everyone in our family is on high alert. There is no pulling the wool over anyone's eyes in this house! So there is no sense for me to come running inside and say to Kathy: "A tree just fell on your car!" She would laugh, and say: "Sure it did..." So there is little hope that I would get anywhere with the big lie. Then I was struck by a brilliant idea - I would try something subtle. I cut a black oval from a piece of black gaffer tape, and put it under my pocket - the pocket where I always carry my fountain pen. The funny thing was, I had to walk around for half an hour before Kathy noticed it! It was fun to watch her face change when she first saw it! Mission accomplished!
I love it! When I logged onto your blog and saw the picture, my first thought was the pen you recently refurbished leaked onto to your signature white shirt. April Fools Day nicely played!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh, because how many people do you know would go to the trouble you did to play a joke?! It's hilarious! Except this really did happen recently and hubby was wearing one of his good 100 percent no-iron shirts! It's ruined, of course, and I did not laugh.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!! You pulled it off. Very clever, indeed. Mom always "got" us when were still living at home. Joan and I always tried to fool each other. I even tried by text!. She didn't fall for it but I had a big laugh trying...
ReplyDeleteI think that's the fun of April Fools, is just trying, whatever we do. And, yes I know the pain of destroying a brand new shirt with an ink stain. when I am not using my fountain pens, I love gel pens, and I use retractable ones. On two occasions, I have put one back in my pocket with the pen tip extended... :-( That is so painful to destroy a brand new shirt!
