Last Legs?

I was on my way to the hardware store today, but couldn't reach it directly because of a traffic accident.  So I took a detour, and ended up going by this house on a corner on a street that I never go down.  I do go down the next street over on my bike when on the way to buy bagels.  I was stunned when I saw this house in such bad condition, and for a moment wondered why I had never seen it before.  It has a fence around it, but there are signs of fresh wood visible in some places inside.  The rear of the roof probably hasn't had shingles on it for more than 20 years.  So I am wondering if someone is going to restore it.  It seems like monumental project, though.  Stay tuned.

  1. What a shame :-( There are so many interesting details on the front of the house. Hope it can be revived...bsk

  2. The fact that you can see through the roof to the sky, I cannot imagine the damage inside. Hope it has some strong bones and someone will lovingly bring it back to a beautiful home. Go back one day and check the address.

  3. This house is classic Sea Cliff; hopefully, someone with deep pockets will be able to restore it.

  4. This must have been a gem at one time. There is still so much charm in the porch and its gingerbread trim, even in its present state. There can be only sad stories about how and why this home is now in ruin. With a lot of caring, skill and funds to see the project through, I bet it turns into a beautiful place again. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  5. And I will keep checking to see what happens with this house. It does have great architectural details. I hope I can find some workmen who can tell me about the structure underneath the wide open roof.
