The Florence Griswold Museum

Kathy and I are in Massachusetts visiting our friends Dick and Trauti.  On the way up here today, we stopped at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut.  It is a museum that features American Impressionistic art.  The first picture is of the original family farmhouse that was turned into a boardinghouse, first, and then an artist's colony.  The second picture is of the entrance to the museum itself.  Really interesting architecture, isn't it, with the galvanized metal curving roof?  And the last photograph is of one of the gardens behind the main house.  A wonderful place to visit.

  1. I have visited the Florence Griswold Museum many times - with Karen & Joan, plus my friend, Cheryl. Always something new in art to see! Wonderful grounds along the Lieutenant River. bsk

  2. Betsey: It is such a beautiful place! It was pretty hot, so we didn't sit down by the river, although we did wanter over to the artist's work cottage with studio and framing shop. We didn't go into the main house either. I will have to go back again.
