The Pond at Dusk

So I am having fun with my late day walking and photographing.  I saw these phragmites at Scudder's pond yesterday when it was really dark and I wanted to draw attention to them by focusing on them and leaving the background of the pond and trees in the distance out of focus.  It was really getting dark, but my Sony a7 III was up to the task.  The ISO was 1600 and the exposure was 1/60 at f/5.6.

  1. I think cattails are like brown cigars on plain wood sticks with a little green grass. This photo is beautiful, but makes me think of common reed with beautiful plumes. Lovely photo.

  2. Joan: You are CORRECT! I received an email this morning from my friend Ginger, who was the garden editor at the paper, and she corrected me that these are "phragmites." So I just corrected the text. So you get a prize for your knowledge of plants! Another envelope from "The Prize Company!" :-)

  3. I like the soft fluffy look of these plants as the attention getter in this photo. Betsey
