It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

Amy on the Beach
Amy has been coming to Montauk now for about 14 years. She has been renting a small cottage with some friends and really loves the magic that is Montauk - the light and the salt air and great hang-out spots and restaurants. Now that she lives in California, she takes a month off to come here to work, to write, and to relax. Her husband Gus joins her for a couple of weeks, and if we are lucky, we get invited out for a couple of days each year, which is wonderful. So today we walked the beach, and breathed salt air, and soaked it all in. In this picture, I love the atmospheric quality of the light and the way the salt spray fills the air, and how objects in the distance become fainter and lighter and less distinct.
