It may be work, it may be play, it may be near, it may be away. So here is the challenge - to shoot and post one photograph a day on this site. These photographs are a kind of diary of things I find interesting. I am also thinking that there will be days when I am unable to shoot, so on those infrequent occasions, I will post a photograph done on another day, but one that still feels important to me. - Ken Spencer

The Fisher-Ladies
Amy discovered the joys of fishing off a "party boat" a couple of years ago while enjoying her month-long-stay in Montauk. So when we went out to visit, she suggested we all go on the boat Flying Cloud to do some fishing. We got up at 7 AM (which is a huge sacrifice for me...) and the boat left at 8 AM. There were about 11 people fishing and two crew members. Kathy, who had never fished in her life, was one of the first to catch a fish - a huge fluke! She then caught 3 other fish quickly after that! Wonder of wonders. I didn't fish, because I was having so much fun photographing everything that was going on. Eventually I did try a rod and reel for a bit, because I have never been fishing either. I would rather photograph!
Great Photo. Yeah Kathy! Did you cook any fish for dinner? I would think fluke would get tossed back in the ocean.

Correction - it was a sea bass, and 3 porgies (I think that was what they are called). Four fish in all! And yes, we did cook them - went home and made fish tacos and divided the rest between Amy's place and ours. Amy did catch a fluke and it did get tossed back in - they have to be a certain size to keep them. Guess we are having fish again today!
ReplyDeleteNow I know you will eat fish Kath.....yeah! so much fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of Amy and Kathy with their trophies. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSam thinks that a good fish dinner with good people is better than just being paid scale for the day!
