Well, it was a lot of work, I have to admit. But to have it done makes it all worthwhile. I think it looks beautiful. The ceiling was gray, and I really love this baltic blue color. It would not have been nearly as much fun if, after all the scraping and priming, I ended up with another gray ceiling.
After I took the first photograph, I backed up and included the pot of Geraniums that hangs at the entrance of the porch. I love the contrast of the red against the blue.
I am not sure that this gives a sense of how much paint I chipped off the ceiling. This is a fairly large pile of paint chips. But there is no scale to the image, except the fact that the porch floorboards are two inches wide, which gives you some sense of the scale. Guess what else this photo tells us. It tells us that my next project is to use paint stripper on most of the front porch floor. There are probably six coats of paint on the floor as well.

Bravo Ken! Better than Michelangelo. Nice color-- Stan
Job well done! I love the blue ceiling, especially with the contrast of flowers. Sit on your porch, smile and relax.

This looks lovely. What a terrific color! I'd love to sit on your porch relaxing and taking in all the comfort your beautiful ceiling emits.
Thank you all for your nice comments. The ceiling was gray, and it seemed to me that if, after all the work I painted it gray again, that I wouldn't have accomplished anything. So instead, Baltic Blue! It really is a lovely color.
Wow, you work fast! Hope you were wearing a face mask to keep out the particulates!
This is dumb, but I was not wearing a face mask, even though I own one. And that's stupid, because much of the paint on the ceiling, because it is from so long ago, most likely contains lead. Dumb me.
The ceiling looks wonderful! Love the blue color - summery, relaxing. Now you will really enjoy your efforts when you sit on your porch and gaze upward...bsk
