Is there anyone out there besides me, who eats sardine sandwiches? I used to eat them as a kid, because my dad did. I think my mom made them which is a real testament to her love for us kids, because she hated to handle fish. I remember them being delicious, but for some reason I hadn't had one of these in years and years. I recently read that the same benefits that you can get from salmon, you can get from sardines. It is quicker to make a sardine sandwich, than it is to grill a salmon filet and then make a dijon dill sauce to go with it. So maybe I am more healthy now. This sandwich DOES look strange, doesn't it? It will have a second piece of bread on top.

Sorry Ken, no interest here. Just the thought of it makes my stomach tighten. The visual does nothing to entice me either. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I am Mom's daughter - I don't like them either, but Betsey loves them. Hope you enjoyed and felt like a kid again. They are healthy.

I enjoy sardine sandwiches as well..although visually I much prefer viewing your sunsets and street scenes!

Thanks to everyone who replied. To Fred, I was desperate and couldn't come up with a scenic, so you got sardines instead... :-) Thanks for leaving a note.
I can relate to this. Almost every Sunday night when I was a kid, we had sardines with saltine crackers and ginger ale. It definitely does taste better than it looks, though.

I remember sardines on saltine crackers on some Sunday nights (no cooking after a big Sunday dinner). I eat them quite often for the flavor and yes, they are good for you. I am definitely my father's daughter when it comes to food! bsk
I LOVE sardine sandwiches, KS!
