Wow, this was a tedious travel day! We left Sea Cliff at mid-morning for our trip to Watertown, NY for a family reunion. There was traffic at the Throg's Neck Bridge. Then there was a long backup leading to, and across the Tappan Zee Bridge - they were doing repairs to the roadway. Then, if that were not bad enough, on Route 17, the traffic was funneled down to one lane while they made some concrete repairs to another bridge. In the first three hours, we only drove 100 miles! Then this was the scene outside of Binghampton, on the way to Route 81 north. We finally arrived, seven hours later, on a trip that should only have taken five and one-half hours. Sigh...

As a long time New Yorker, were you at least using your horn each time traffic stopped?
Blame it on Chris Christie or his cronies! Sure, he is in Iowa, and you were in NY, but there are politicians everywhere who must secretly admire his handywork! -Dean
I never thought of that - this was a conspiracy, and it was carefully planned. Otherwise, why do major construction on a Friday afternoon! No, I did not blow my horn... I am too meek and mild to do that... :-)
Dean - that is probably the most ridiculous comment I have ever seen on this very un-political blog. I am not the biggest fan of Christie but up to this point there has not been one shred of evidence that shows Christie knew anything about what happened at the GWB. Yes he had a couple real idiots working for him who will probably go to jail on this but do your research before you make such a crazy throw away comment. In terms of why we have crumbling infrastructure in NY State, you can blame a series of governors and executives who under-invested in our infrastructure(wait to you see the bills for repairing our bridges)during the good times.
Dear Anonymous-
Ouch, I apologize profusely to my reckless comments regarding Mr. Christie. I was just trying to make light of Ken's traffic issues, and meant no disrespect... -Dean
