The Broad is a new contemporary art museum in Los Angeles. It opened a year ago September, and I couldn't get to see it when we were here last Christmas. It was still hard to get tickets this time but we did so five of us went to see the main show, which was a huge Cindy Sherman exhibit. More on that in another post. But the museum itself was just stunning, and I was unprepared for how interesting the building was architecturally. The exterior doesn't give a clue to what the interior looks like. The outside wall is separate from the inside glass wall that surrounds the exhibit space. Inside, it looks like a cave in the areas leading to the exhibits.

Lucky people those LAers. A beautiful new museum and perfect year-round weather. You have to pre-buy tickets for it? Doesn't look crowded, do they limit the number they sell? Can't imagine a NYC museum doing that unless they're having a special, limited exhibition.
The Broad has been incredibly popular. Since it has only been open for slightly more than a year, you have to get tickets in order go get in. The tickets for the museum are free. However, if you go to the website, all of the September tickets are gone already! You can go to the museum and there is a standby line, so on some days, I am guessing you can get in. However, there is a special exhibition: "Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life" and they are charging $12 to see that. So we bought the Cindy Sherman tickets, and that allows to see both her show, and the exhibition of selected art from the Broad collection in the second floor galleries. The tickets were worth every cent!
So glad you were able to attend The Broad Museum this time around. The architecture is extraordinary - need more photos! bsk
