Rose

I saw this rose next door while painting. I have been dodging the rose bush over there for weeks while moving my ladders around, and never managed to find a fresh rose bloom. Any roses I saw seemed to have been past their prime. Yesterday there was this one rose that looked pretty good. Not perfect but pretty good. But I was desperate for a blog shot, so I went home and got my camera and came back to shoot this. Oh well...

It's beautiful! Simple, but an offering of life at a time when life is beginning to tuck itself away in preparation for the winter.

Hmmmm. I think a more interesting shot would've been a closeup of a tangle of thorns on the bush, especially if they cast a shadow. In their own way, thorns are perfectly shaped, and their spikey tips never look past their prime.

Good try, though.

Interesting idea... the thorns. Maybe I will go back and see what I can find with the thorns. Except it will be raining tomorrow...
