There was a baby shower today for Bethany and Pat. A wonderful family affair, that was a bit different for me, because the guys were invited. I wonder how common it is to include the menfolk? In any case it was really nice, both to celebrate the coming arrival of their baby, and because it was a giant family gathering where we got to spend time with people we haven't seen in a long time. I took a lot of photographs, and strangely enough, do not remember taking this one. There was only one frame of this moment. But it was a good frame!

Just because men are invited to baby showers doesn't mean they have to go. I think women only at those has been a good social norm.
i haven't heard of any baby shower in the past 10 years when the men weren't invited along with the women. To excluse them would be like saying men shouldn't change diapers. Besides, it gives everyone a chance to celebrate the promise and hope tha tnew life brings, to share in the happiness of the new love that will surround this little one. Sure there are some neaderthals who still think baby showers are "girl stuff." Ask those holdouts how involved they are in raising their own children.
