I stumbled across some old color transparencies from the mid-1950's, which would have been just about the time I began High School. I was thrilled to find one photograph of these oyster boats. When I was a kid, there were oyster boats that operated in Long Island Sound and that were berthed in Milford, Connecticut. I was fascinated by these rust stained white wooden boats. On some days I would ride my bicycle down to the harbor after school, and at 3:30 every afternoon, the oyster boats would return to their docks across the harbor where they unloaded. I have kept my eyes open for any photographs I might have taken of these boats, but never found any - until today, that is, and I am thrilled to have this reminder of something from so long ago. Keep scanning, this is awesome stuff. If you look closely on the right - the car dates the photo to the period.
Photodude Images has a keen eye. I had to go back to look at the photo again to see the car. Great photo. Back then you could swim across the harbor. I think you should print a copy for me to frame! :-)

Ken, This is unbelievable. This is now what I do for a living (sort of). I work for a shellfish company that still does oystering and clamming, out of Milford Harbor and around Charles Island. And at 3:30 you can still see the guys come in from their day at "sea". Ahh my old stomping grounds. I feel right at home!!!! - Bunny
