I went to the International Center of Photography today to see an extensive exhibit of the photographs by Lewis Hine, who was active starting in about 1905. He was was an American sociologist and photographer who used his camera as a tool for social reform. His photographs were instrumental in changing the child labor laws in the United States. So there was a group of these young students, gathered in a corner, speaking French, and working on their iPads. I spoke to the teacher and found they were from a school for ex-pats here in New York, and were here to see the exhibit, and work on a project about the Industrial Revolution. I was just amazed at how they were using their iPads so intensively for this project.
