A Long Time Friend!

This is my long time friend Dick Benjamin.  We both started as photographers at the Rochester Times-Union within six months of each other in 1965, and have been friends ever since.  He is a really great photographer, and worked most of his career at the Providence Journal in Rhode Island where he was born and raised.  After retirement he has specialized in landscapes and cityscapes of Rhode Island and has published a book of his photographs, and for the last five years, a calendar each year.  We visited Dick and his wife, and had a grand time hanging out with them.  It seems so rich to have had a friend for so many years.  If you would like to see some of his work, go to this website: http://www.photosofri.com/  You will be amazed!

Beautiful photos. I am amazed at so many different buildings. I have only been to RI to catch a ferry to Block Island or 40+ years ago for camping.

How lucky you've been to have such a close friend for so long. Especially nice that you recognize what a gift that is. Am blown away by his photographs of Rhode Island. Beautiful! No wonder he's able to do a yearly calendar business. He has a very discerning eye.

I enjoyed the link to your friend Benjamin's photographs of Rhode Island. I had spent quite a bit of time in that beautiful small state, which is home to Sutter's Mill and the country's first automated Post Office. I learned to drive in Rhode Island with my aunt Phyllis and we often took Sunday drives to neat places like Newport. Her car was a blue Henry J.
