I finally got to the new International Center of Photography yesterday. It opened in March, so Stan and I decided it was time to see what it is all about. The first exhibit is called "Public, Private, Secret." There are lots of video, presentations rather than just still photographs. My feeling was that it was disorienting, overall. When you enter into the first gallery, the walls are covered with plastic mirrors, and because they are plastic, they distort what they reflect. Thus, two of us become four of us.

I don't know why this picture tickles me. Maybe it's because it's two guys who stand together to pose without really posing. If you were two women, you'd have your hands on your hips, stand angled to the mirror, tilt your chins up and pout before you pressed the shutter for a selfie. But you're two guys and there's no pretense. You don't worry if you look fat, or whether your hair is messy, or if you need more lip gloss. Just two guys, capturing a moment of being together.
STEREO PAIR! If you look "through" the image, looking at an image w/each eye, you can see your arm holding the camera in front of you, strap dangling! This is a "parallel view". Had you conveniently flipped the image left-to-right to make it easier to read the display, we would have had to use the "cross-eyed" method to see the 3D effect. Good lookin' dudes!

Dean: Oh man, only YOU would come up with this! And it's true! That is crazy to "free view" this image and see us both in 3D! I love that you discovered this!
