Apartment House

On my bagel run this morning, I passed by this. It was raining, but I got out of my car and took the picture. I liked the design of the winding vines on the geometric background. OK, here is a confession... It wasn't until I was looking at the image on my computer screen that I noticed what was going on in this severely cropped version. Duh! I thought that it looked like an apartment house with giant vines growing on it. OK, maybe I have overdone it in the imagination department. The lesson is, that I should have spent more time when photographing, to look for other possibilities. Because it was raining, I didn't spend the time.

There's something very compelling about this photograph. The combination of geometric squares and the rambling vine is great to look at. This could be a picture on a large wall in my home, easily. Guess sometimes, you really don't have to try too hard to get something worth saving.

well if you have overdone it in the imagination department, then I did too. I have to admit that my first impression, glancing very quickly at the picture before reading the narrative, was of an apartment building

This is fun to hear. Sometimes I think that maybe I overdo my sensibilities about things. And it is always amazing to me what photographs under what circumstances end up being more effective. I would think that photographing at the Grand Canyon would result in more "significant" photographs, than something I photographed in my back yard. Truth is, I have come to know that the back yard photograph may be more significant. Seems counterintuitive, doesn't it?
