Some Changes Around Here

We have decided to put a small addition on to the little back room.  It will be a family room, and we will use part of the original back room to install a full bathroom with shower.  The important thing is that we will have both a second bathroom, and it will be on the ground floor.  That will allow us to stay here as long as we like, even if we can't climb stairs to the second floor.  So the excavators arrived today with their serious machinery.  I couldn't believe this backhoe would even fit into the back yard!  Now that the hole is done for the foundation, the masons will arrive and begin pouring the concrete footing.  The white siding has been removed from the outside of the existing building, so the builder will know what he has to connect the new addition to.  Stay tuned.

Congratulations on doing what needs to be done to make this your forever home. Not everyone has the means to do this and you are truly blessed. What fun to have a brand new space to live in and enjoy.

You're not allowed to stay there forever. It's a legal requirement for NYers to come to Florida. At least on a snowbird basis.

I'll be looking forward to gradual stages of this building project. I love "forever home". In the future you could always move a bed to the 1st floor but without a bathroom, it would not work. Now you will have taken out the worry and you'll be able to have a new space. Great idea indeed!! bsk
