I Need To Buy a Doorbell Button

We tried to think of everything for the new addition.  But after the crew came and installed insulation, and then the crew came and installed sheetrock, Kathy said: "We should have a doorbell at the back door"  Yikes!  When the walls were wide open,  snaking a wire from the door to the basement would have been easy.  Fortunately the sheetrock only goes to within one inch of the floor, to allow the flooring to be installed, so there was an easy way to snake the wire.  So I did that.  Only thing, I forgot to buy the doorbell!  So until one arrives, it is easy to ring the bell - just follow instructions!

Good timing (well, the timing could have been a little better) for wiring the back door for a doorbell. But I would recommend stripping off some wire's insulation to insure better wire-to-wire contact!

Why didn't you install a good old fashioned door knocker? That way, you'd know which door to answer - the doorbell for the front door, the back door when someone started banging. Like, if I saw a sign that said, put the two wires together, I'd probably laugh myself silly thinking someone couldn't be serious about that!

A confession.... Laughing yourself silly is EXACTLY what I was hoping for... :-) I was desperate for a post yesterday, so I made the sign and pinned it to the door jam. I removed the sign right after I took the picture! The wires are not yet hooked up to the doorbell. Since I no longer work for a newspaper I can make stuff up! :-) The technical details are that the back doorbell always rang one chime, and the front doorbell rings two.

I laughed when I saw this. Only you would think of something so silly. Lets electrocute ourselves trying to get in to visit.

Your post is interesting. Thanks for share this unique idea. My family has had a smart video doorbell camera for a couple of years now and haven't had such experience. It's free, except for the hardware of course
