I spent the day in Riverhead today, at the Custer Institute Astronomy Day. We met at the college, and there were lectures during the day and outside members had set up some telescopes to view the sun. These are two of my friends, Steve, behind the telescope, and Dave, squinting at the sun. They are trying to find the planet Jupiter, during the day, not a simple task. The ruler is marked in degrees, and they use an astronomy program to see how many degrees Jupiter is from the sun, and then try and find where it should be in the sky, and then use the telescope to see it up close.
