I have so many photographs left over from California, and a whole bunch from just Alcatraz, that I am going to have an "Alcatraz Week." And then maybe a "California Week" after that. Stay tuned. Earlier I posted a photograph of the warden's home that was destroyed by arson during the Indian occupation. This is the other building that suffered the same fate. This was the officer's club when this was a military base, and later it was the social club, for the guards and their families who lived on the island. It seems such a shame to lose these historical buildings. I do love, as you know, photographing "urban decay" and this island has subjects like that from one end to the other!
