I went out to buy some Canolli and some Napoleons as a surprise. Did you know, by the way, that "canolli" is plural, and the singular of cannoli is "canolo?" Thus it's "vorrei un cannolo" (I'd like a cannolo). Don't you love all that you learn here when you visit? Anyhow, on the way back I drove by The Doggie Den where people board their dogs. I have passed this place a billion times, but today the light was striking as the late afternoon sun raked across the side of the building. What is really nice is how they have decorated this long building to make it bright and sunny with the colorful doghouses and flowers. What a nice thing to do to what would have been a long, plain, boring building.

napoleons seriously delicious and those flaky layers reminiscent of your patisserie adventure. did you know that napoleons are more commonly known in france as mille-feuille meaning something like "thousands of leaves" one of my all time favorite pastries. there is one really great french bakery here in tucson that makes the best mille-feuille in town its near campbell and prince as for cannoli i had no idea it is a plural. we remain life long learners and that is a great thing
Love the colorful, fun and cheery building. I have never had a napoleon. Will have to check out bakery in Orange.

I always learn new things from your blog. Will definitely try a Napoleon soon. Sounds divine! bsk
This is so much fun to have you all excited about Napoleons! Thanks for the comments. Oh, and I guess I will have to head to Tucson before too long to try the mille-feuille!
