I turned out the lights and headed for bed last night, and then I noticed that the light from the neighbor's front porch was shining into our living room. They have this really bright light right by their front door. It does seem unnecessary because there are no front steps at their house. The light is way too bright - it could be much dimmer, and it is annoying when I am doing stargazing in the side yard. When I am using my telescope I have to position it so that our tree blocks the light. Anyhow, light is strong enough to shine across the street and into our living room, as seen here, and it lights up the bookcase. Cool lighting effect, though.

Very cool, interesting picture. I bet the neighbors have no idea the effect their light is having on you, go have a neighborly chat !!
Unfortunate that the neighbor's lights interfere with your stargazing, but what an outstanding picture! It's abstract in its own way and is one of those classic "window" photos you can look at over and over again.
Frame-able !!!!
I agree with Anonymous and Anonymous! Lovely.
This might be the perfect time to ask your neighbor if he has ever seen your blog, Great Visual Truths!
squint your eyes and look at it. could be a scene from star trek. maybe its a v'ger attack array ha ha ha just kidding but seriously that's some bright light coming from that lamp. either that, or your window is maybe 5 ft from the source which is not likely
Wow, I love that this photograph, which I thought might be a bit interesting, has received six comments! Thank you all so much! The truth is that the light is "bright" but it did take me a 5 second exposure to record the light in the living room. The light on the porch is about one hundred feet away. I have, in fact, called them when I want to observe, if it is not too late, and ask if they can turn it off or down. If I remember correctly, there is a dimmer setting. But maybe that was an older light.
