It Was Stan's Idea...

We went out to the car this morning, and it was cold.  I was surprised to find frost on all the windows.  Enterprise, the rental company, was a champ - they included a windshield scraper in the car!  I started to scrape off the windshield, and Stan said: "Wait, that could be a blog post!"  I thought for one second, then grabbed the camera and sat in the drivers seat to take some images like this, through the front window.  He was right!  They are little frost flakes as seen against the beautiful New Mexico Sky.  So while I was in the car shooting, he was outside in the cold scraping the other windows!  So thanks, Stan, for the idea, and the window cleaning!  I keep thinking that this looks like a flock of butterflies taking off.

I love your thought of butterflies. I clicked on it to enlarge the photo and it is a new image. Lovely. I though NM would be warm.

Hi Ken-
An amazing image - you shouldn't have told us what it was and make us guess - frost on a windshield would be tough! And to answer Joan, though we live in the desert, even in Tucson it was 25 a couple nights ago and our little outside fire-dish that had rain in it froze solid. It helps to be radiating to a clear sky for frost to form. My only saving grace for my windshield in front of the house is that the neighbor's tree shields it from radiating to sky and is most always clear of frost.

My first thought was that this was an underwater shot and I thought, Spencer must have a new camera!

Sort of looks like amoebas under a microscope. Like the idea of butterflies better! I also thought the weather would be warm...bsk
