I found this photograph while going through some old folders. This is the Spencer family farm, in Guilford, Connecticut. I love that the road that it is on, is called "Three Mile Course." I took this photograph back when I was in High School. You can get some idea of the date by looking at the car to the left - something from the 1950's. The farmhouse has changed considerably since I took this. The farm was sold, and then the field I am standing in was sold separately, and is now filled with development houses. You can't go home again.

So many warm and fun memories. So sad that it was in the Spencer family for generations and has now changed hands at least four times. "He who has seen the Spencer place has seen New England".

I think that was Dad's 1952 Chevy in the front driveway.

There is nothing quite like a small family farm for very pleasant and long lasting memories. I am also one of the lucky ones to have enjoyed watermelon from the garden on the back porch and hot biscuits made from scratch at every dinner. A farm experience is good for the soul!
What happened to Cat Week?
Dude: Ran out of cats... :-)
Please no more cats
This photo looks like it could be Thanksgiving - the color, no leaves on the trees...I have so many good memories being at the farm. Learning how to walk on stilts, sleeping over during the summer, having picnics at "rocky hill", enjoying Thanksgiving dinners with lots of relatives, checking out the newborn chicks, watching the cow getting milked, eating Uncle Norm's delicious barbecue chicken...Even though the house has changed, it doesn't change the good times I had there! Thanks for posting, Ken. bsk
Betsey: thanks for all your detailed memories! That brings back so many memories for me as well. Oh, and add the frogs in the unused horse trough!
