The Magical Comet

Tuesday is our day for coffee and a donut at Dunkin Donuts.  It's our ritual.  It was raining this morning, and on the way out of the store I spotted this oil slick on the driveway.  If it hadn't been raining, the dripping oil would have just made a wet spot on the blacktop.  But when the oil and water mix, the result is this amazing rainbow of colors.  If it was just a circle I probably never would have noticed it, but with the strange shapes coming out from the colored center, it looked to me like a psychedelic comet!

You do know that your car is not supposed to drip oil like that? Maybe instead of Dunkies you should head to the repair shop. They have coffee and donuts too.

I agree with Photodude on this one; your car needs a trip to the shop! If you are lucky, the leak might come from an inadequately tightened oil pan gasket - or unlucky if some cheapo oil change company cross-threaded the oil pan bolt Maybe you have leaky value cover gaskets or maybe a worn out cam seal. In any case, it's best to stop the oil leak so oil does not flow down your driveway to Laurel Avenue and then down the hill to Hempstead Harbor!

On a more upbeat and artistic note.....I used that same kind of visual back when I was a student at Hofstra...I used it as an inspiration for an art class project. Fortunately it wasn't an oil leak in my parent's driveway! :)

Dudes! We were parked across the parking lot from this oil spill. This spill was in one of the handicapped spaces just outside the front door! Give me some credit, please... :-) And the space was vacant, which is why I saw the spill.

Like the "Magical Comet" and the striking colors! I would never think that this oil spill came from your car. You take care of "things"!! betsey
