Stan's Exhibition Print

Today was an auspicious occasion.  Stan came to visit, for the first time in probably a year and a half!  We are all vaccinated so a visit without masks was possible.  He had a 16x20 inch print made, and he bought a frame but he needed a mat cut for the frame and the photograph, and I volunteered.  His framed photograph is for an exhibit celebrating a friend of his in the Asian-American community, a fellow photographer named Corky Lee who Stan has known for years and years.  Corky Lee photographed every event in the community for years creating an amazing archive.  Sadly, Corky, in spite of being so careful, was infected with Covid-19 and did not survive. If you enlarge this photograph, you will see Corky on the right side of the photograph, standing on a fire hydrant, photographing a ceremonial procession in Chinatown.  Oh, in honor of Stan's visit, we all had dinner together which was wonderful, and dinner was flounder stuffed with crabmeat!  Stan approved of the dinner!

I highly approved of the dinner and, of course, the company. Thank you both for a great evening. --Stan

Excellent Win-Win situation. Stan gets a mat for his tribute photograph of Corky Lee and you get to visit with Stan and enjoy a wonderful dinner together :-) betsey

My condolences to Stan for the loss of his friend and fellow photographer, Corky Lee. I am glad you could cut the mat for this photo and enjoy a delicious dinner together. I had enlarged the photo before reading your story as was interested in this march and wondered about the urn or items being carried by the marcher and what there significance might be.

And what great timing that you got to enjoy a wonderful seafood dinner with Stan in your newly renovated dining room!

The man in the foreground was holding a "singing bowl" I believe it is called. The wooden piece in his right hand is used to strike the bowl which produces such a rich and beautiful sound. I forget the significance of that. I will have to ask Stan but he is traveling to Colorado to photograph the lunar eclipse with a photographer friend tomorrow.
