Earth Hour, 2009

I got an email from Jo Anne, my sister-in law, reminding me that tonight at 8:30 was Earth Hour. So I thought I would do before and after photographs showing what a difference it would make to turn all the lights off in the house.  The lights you do see in the "after" photo are a computer monitor in the back room, and the TV set in the living room.  Wow, we were burning up a lot of wattage! Yikes! And we take electricity for granted.

Everynight is 'Earth Hour' night for me for I live in darkness (well, almost). The only light I have come from my TV & the notebook too. Visitors to my home don't understand how I could live in the darkness ;)

It was remarkable to me to see the difference in my own house, AND to see some of the locations around the world with their lights out. The Parthenon comes to mind - it was so much more interesting looking with the lights turned off. It looked too theatrical when illuminated as it normally is. Made me think of the energy wasted.

Cool shots. And yes, I agree, we could all do to live with a few less lights...
