Moon Obsession

Sorry about my Moon obsession. As the moon approaches full, I was back out in the side yard again with a larger telescope and a more rugged mount. So this is a higher quality photo than the image from the other day. And of course, the photo the other day was first quarter, and tonight the moon is 2 days away from full. What is interesting about this is, if you look carefully, you can see the texture of some craters in the upper left and lower left of the moon's surface. I have posted an extra-large image, so please click on it to see more detail. You will see a larger image, and the cursor will have a "+" on it. Please click again to enlarge the image even more.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I am so glad you are not bored with my moon photos.
This *Only* took an hour to set up. First there is the really heavy telescope equatorial mount on a big tripod which I lift up and stagger out of the garage with. Then I have to polar align the mount with the North star. Then comes the counterweights for the mount. Then down to the basement to get the 5" f/8 Starfire refractor. Then the controller electronics are plugged in, and a battery from the basement comes out to power everything. First I find the moon in a low-power eyepiece, then a higher powered one, until the moon is centered, then I add the camera, a Nikon D-300 and finally I take the photographs! I also connected a web cam and used a laptop to take some movies of both the moon and Saturn. How can I show you those? Hmmm... They are HUGE files - 30MB each, and way too large to email...

Something so comforting about our moon and this is a stunning portrait of her, ( la lune, non?) Thanks for taking the time for us. It was worth it.
