The Movies - Not Like Los Angeles!

It was Monday night so we decided to go to the movies, to see "Still Alice."  Julianne Moore won an academy award for "Best Actress" for this film.  We were kind of early to the theater, and the multiplex seemed empty, except for one person in the ticket window, and one person accepting tickets for the whole place.  We went into the theater, and there was no one else there!  So I thought this would be funny to take a picture showing this.  Before the film started one other couple came in.  That was it for the audience.  In Los Angeles, we have to call and reserve a seat and buy tickets before arriving at the theater.  Some difference!

I seem to remember your lamenting that a theater in your neighborhood was shutting down. I don't know how theaters manage to stay open when the only time they have business is on weekends or when the kids are off from school. For us, paying $13 a ticket is ridiculous. I'd rather go to a restaurant and have a couple of appetizers with my meal for that kind of money. Now they're offering lounge chairs and stadium seating to lure in customers. I guess you should never stop trying to be successful, but how on earth do they keep their heads above water?

You have a good memory. The theater that shut down re-opened under new management. It was a fairly large investment for them - they had to install new digital projectors. Unfortunately the attendance is not all that great. The theater in this photograph is about ten miles away. And it was EMPTY! Oh wait, I told you that already...
