The Met Christmas Tree

I went into the city today to see a couple of photography shows with Stan.  Wandering through the museum we stumbled across the Met Christmas Tree.  This is what they say about it.  "The Met continues a longstanding holiday tradition with the presentation of its Christmas tree. The magnificently lit, twenty-foot blue spruce looms over a vivid eighteenth-century Neapolitan Nativity scene, surrounded by an abundant array of lifelike figures with silk-robed angels hovering above. The scene describes in detail the Mediterranean harbor town's multicultural population."  It is a spectacular work of art.  If you go the Met's website they have some individual figures with incredible detail.

Wow, this looks amazing. I love the idea of the whole Mediterranean village to help explain the Christmas story. The figurines are so detailed. Very interesting and nice photo. Trace

I'm glad you suggested going to the Met's website. The details are incredible! I really like the Spanish choir screen, also. So much detail. The whole scene is magnificent. So happy you photographed this. betsey

Beautiful angels and I loved seeing the detail on the Met's website. Standing in front of a 20 foot tree must had an amazing feeling, especially with the incredible village displayed underneath. Wow!
