Welcome to Vermont

Stan and I left Sea Cliff at bout 10 AM this morning and headed to Vermont for the Stellafane convention.  The traffic was light and so it made for a good trip.  We always stop at the Vermont Welcome Center, as you know from other years.  The building is a spectacular barn-like design, and it is filled with interesting exhibitions.  This trip I wandered around the outside because as we drove in I saw this hillside covered with white wildflowers.  Someone help me here, please.  Can you tell me what flowers these are?  Here is a detail photograph of some of the flowers.  Thank you!

Queen Anne's lace. The fields of flowers look so beautiful. I used to pick them along the roadside years ago and put them in a vase with a little food coloring added to the water. The flowers would soak up the color. Enjoy your time at the convention.

Hi Ken! Joan, of course is correct. There is often a red floret in the center to indicate a drop of blood from a pricked finger…. I LOVE these July flowers when in IL - they are a model of mechanical engineering if you closely examine the rear supports for the flat front surface of the flower. The one at right is about to make a seed ball as they move past their “prime”.

A pretty New England scene! The colors of the barn and trees and the brightness of the wildflowers go together so well. Very beautiful. Trace

The field of flowers and the barn in the background makes me think of lazy summer days. Beautiful! betsey
