Moon, Venus & Tree

I pulled into a parking lot in Glen Cove and saw this tree, illuminated by the floodlights surrounding the parking lot.  I thought the lighting gave such an eerie feeling to the tree.  Then I noticed to the left of the tree, a thin crescent moon with the planet Venus above it.  I thought that those celestial objects completed this unusual image.

Ken- You also got Mars! Above and to the left of Venus. I also went out last night to shoot this, maybe around the same time- Stan

I saw a crescent moon last night and it was in the the lowest position I've ever seen. I almost missed it because it was a sliver. Your picture looks bigger than the one I saw. How is that possible?

It is eerie and beautiful. Love them all together. Diane

Anonymous: When anyone photographs the crescent Moon, the thickness of the Moon depends on the exposure in the camera. The longer the exposure, the thicker the crescent. I needed a longer exposure to correctly expose the tree, and so the Moon's crescent is much thicker in the photograph, than it appeared to my eye. Hope this answers the question.

Ah, there's a reason then. I am not going crazy! In the name of sanity, thank you!
