Restoration

I have passed this church once every week for years, on my way to my astronomy meeting.  It is the Old First Presbyterian Church in Huntington, NY, and it is 232 years old!  I have even been up inside the steeple itself, photographing a story for the paper some years back.  So I was surprised to pass the church last Wednesday night, and  was stunned to see that it was shrouded in black!  I decided to drive out there during daylight yesterday and photograph the church.  They are restoring the 100 foot tall steeple, the first major restoration since 1957.  This church was built right after the Revolutionary War and is on the National Register of Historic Places! I promise to photograph the finished steeple when it is done.
